The PSL 2021 Draft is just around the corner and we are all set for the franchises to pick their teams for the upcoming edition that is scheduled to start on Feb 20, 2021. Meanwhile, the PCB has released the PSL 2021 players retention list that shows all the players retained by the six franchises for the upcoming event before they go into the PSL 6 draft to complete their squads.
According to the list, the Karachi Kings have shown their trust in the Pakistan captain Babar Azam as he was the best player of the tournament in the last edition. Islamabad United, the two-times champions, have retained their captain from PSL 5 Shadab Khan.
Both these franchises also traded one of their players with Alex Hales going back to Islu and Colin Ingram making his return to Karachi Kings.

According to the rules set forth by the PCB for the PSL 2021 draft, each of the franchises could retain a maximum of 8 players. Quite surprisingly, however, one of the highly-rated franchise in the tournament Pehsawar Zalmi retained only five of their players and decided to release many big names including Carlos Brathwaite, Imam-ul-Haq, and the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy star Hasan Ali.
Some other major players that the franchises released ahead of the Pakistan Super League 6 draft include Dale Steyn from Islamabad, Moeen Ali, Junaid Khan, and Ravi Bopara from Multan Sultans, and Ahmed Shehzad from Quetta Gladiators.
The Platinum category retentions include Mohammad Hafeez and Shaheen Afridi of Lahore Qalandars, Rilee Rossouw and Shahid Afridi of Multan Sultans, Wahab Riaz and Shoaib Malik of Peshawar Zalmi, and Sarfaraz Ahmed the captain of Quetta Gladiators.
