Pakistan all-rounder and Quetta Gladiators lead Anwar Ali eyes his national team comeback by participating in the upcoming Pakistan Super League 2020.
In a recent media talk, Anwar Ali told that he’s aiming to give his best performance in the upcoming Pakistan Super League, and will try to earn his spot in the national squad as the bowling all-rounder like yesteryears.
“I am eager to make a comeback as fast bowling all-rounder in the national team. After this tournament (Quaid-e-Azam Trophy), my eyes are on the PSL, where I want to perform well and get the selectors’ attention,” he said.
The all-rounder, after taking 5 wickets in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy game between Sindh and Southern Punjab, shared that his fitness is right on track and that he’d love to show some skills with the bat too.
“I want to show my skills as a batsman too. I want to score a century in this season,” Anwar said.
“Fitness is very good, I have recovered a lot and playing my fourth first class match of this season. I have also regained my rhythm and I’m back on track,” he added.
Anwar Ali, who represented the national side in 2016 last time, deems upcoming PSL 5 to be an ideal opportunity for staging his comeback as the tournament highlights the performance of the players, quite unlike the domestic cricket games.
“First class cricket gives us form. We take the form to PSL, which is our prime tournament since everyone has eyes on that tournament. Everyone has their focus on the PSL and our performances there are noticed, whereas our first class matches are usually not even broadcast, because of which performance here goes unnoticed,” he pointed out.
With the PSL 5 draft scheduled on 6th of December, Anwar will be looking forward to stay with his PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators. The tournament is set to start on February 20th, 2020.
